You want to talk about suffering? Look around you. Her name was Laurie Collins. All she wanted was for people to like her for who she was. She got shot in the head, she was sixteen. This is Brian Cruz, he loved his powers and being here. He lost it all on M-Day and he lost his life, too, along with forty-one other kids. Because some mutant-hater blew them up. Like your wife was blown up.
Don’t tell me we haven’t suffered like you and don’t ever tell us not to fight for what we have left! You’re trying to do to us exactly what your enemies did to you. Destroy what happiness we’ve managed to find in a world that hates us, for something the Professor didn’t even do! Maybe we can’t stop you, but don’t you dare expect us to fight any less hard than you!World War Hulk: X-Men #3
My favorite Cessily moment! I’ve posted this twice before because I love it so much, she’s the hero of the day. One of my favorite things about Cessily is her sincerity and in this story Christos Gage showcased perfectly who she is. Cess was able to stop the Hulk and have him leave, not by fighting him (as that showed it did no good), but through words spoken with her genuine sincerity. She knows how the Hulk feels, she’s watched so many of her friends die herself, and in this moment they were able to understand each other.
Ugh. Cessily. I love you so much.
